HOLY TRINITY TRACK TEAM IMPRESSIVE AT 25TH ANNUAL MT. SAC RELAYS
SAN PEDRO, Calif., April 21, 2010 - The Holy Trinity track team continued its strong performance at the Mt. Sac Relays at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. Strong performances turned in during Junior High day included Mario Meza and Madison Miller’s first place finishes in the shot put and Kala Kopecek’s first place heat finish in the long jump. The 8th grade 4 x 100 relay team turned in an impressive come from behind 3rd place finish. It was highlighted by the strong 3rd leg performance of Cormac McOsker making up significant ground and setting up Conlon McOsker’s strong anchor leg. The 6th grade 4 x 100 hurdle relay team of Johnny DiLeva, Ivan Vukojevich, Chris Costa and Anthony Scheffler earned a first place finish. Sixth grade long jumpers Jake Bjazevich, Kenny Miller and Andrew Lane also finished 1st or 2nd in their respective heats.
The elementary school competition was another banner day for Holy Trinity as the Eli and Marcos Ortega led hurdle team, along with teammates Finbar McOsker and Aaron Hernandez earned a 1st place finish in 4 x100 hurdles. The 4 x 100 mixed relay team of Sara Muirhead, Melanie Meza, Justin Jones and Chris Tumasella finished first in their event. Holy Trinity finished strong in the field events but results were not available at press time.
The Mt Sac Relays are hosted by the LA84 Foundation which is a legacy of the 1984 Olympic Games. Formerly known as the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles (AAF), the LA84 Foundation has maintained a very unique partnership with the Mt. SAC Relays for the past 25 years. The program has served over 300,000 youth from throughout Southern California and beyond. The "Youth Days" program includes the LA84 Foundation Youth Days Track and Field Meet, the LA84 Foundation/Mt. SAC Instructional Clinic Program and the Munchkin Fun Runs.
